QUANDONG (SANTALUM ACUMINATUM)
Santalum acuminatum, the desert quandong, is a hemiparasitic plant in the sandalwood family, Santalaceae, (Native to Australia) which is widely dispersed throughout the central deserts and southern areas of Australia. The species, especially its edible fruit, is also commonly referred to as quandong or native peach. The use of the fruit as an exotic flavouring, one of the best known bush tucker, has led to the attempted domestication of the species.

To greater the chances of survival of Quandong it is recommended to establish host plants prior to planting. Our Quandongs come potted with two complimentary Acacia. Currently we have Acacia acuminata (Raspberry Jam Wattle) available but will also have Acacia saligna in the near future. Please note that Acacia species have an approximate 10yr life span and the Santalum have an undefined life span so providing a new host plant will ensure the longevity of the Santalum acuminatum.

We are currently propagating our third seed batch of Quandong. Please Contact Us for enquiries regarding stock levels.
